“Engage your core.”
Being able to engage your core is an important skill for everyone to have and be able to execute. Being able to produce an engaged, stable core helps prevent injury and is essential to doing certain exercises and movements in your everyday life.
Engaging your core means activating the stabilizing muscles surrounding your spine and pelvis. When the four layers of ab muscles are braced together, working in tandem with your pelvic floor and the muscles that line your spine, you have an engaged core.

At Quest, we love seeing and working with our doubles partners! While some of our clients enjoy a solo fitness regime to keep on track and stay focused, others enjoy working out with a partner. This is because it can help us to stay motivated during a workout, boosts our overall performance, and is generally just more fun!
In fact, social psychologists have proven in multiple studies that people who work out in the presence of their partners have a higher performance rate. So, just being in the presence of your partner may be the spark you need to ignite a great workout!

Let’s talk props! Introducing props as part of your workout can help the body better respond to tactile feedback. Props can bring awareness to proper alignment during movement, activate dormant muscles, provide assistance and help train you to do movements more effectively, and create variation for a more challenging workout.

The Side Sit Up: Who knew work could feel so good?
The curved surface of a barrel provides an ideal service for you to wedge the pelvis in a fixed position as you work into a sideways movement. Their rounded surfaces support extension and side-bending movements and help to improve mobility, flexibility and strength of the spine. While it can seem like just a “feel good” movement, the side sit up exercise really challenges the lateral abdominal and back muscles.
The side sit up can be done on either the ladder barrel or the spine corrector. On the spine corrector (seen here), there is a bit more emphasis on spinal mobility and lengthening while also targeting the lateral muscles of the torso.

If you think pilates is easy, or just light stretching, we’ve got news for you! Pilates can be a serious workout when you want it to be. You are always in control and can make your workout as deep and intense as you want.
Pilates is a deep workout that stimulates nearly every muscle in the body – even ones that get neglected in your average gym workout. The deliberate and precise movements that make pilates so effective are also what will make you sweat and feel the burn.

🧘♀️ Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasizes the importance of proper alignment and posture. By focusing on the core muscles, Pilates helps to strengthen the muscles that support good posture. As you become more aware of your body and its alignment, you will start to notice improvements in your posture both in and out of the studio.
Having good posture also has other benefits. It can help to reduce stress on your muscles and joints, alleviate pain, and improve your breathing. Additionally, good posture can boost your confidence and improve your overall appearance.
Join us at our Pilates studio and let us help you improve your posture, reduce pain and discomfort, and enhance your overall well-being.
