Congratulations to Yasmin McKillip for passing her recent test for grade 8 and moving on to grade 9 in the Adult Kung Fu curriculum!

This is actually a late post. Yasmin tested back in November of 2024. She had a couple things to redo on the test which she completed shortly after testing. She is now preparing for testing on her 1st Degree adult Black Sash.

Yasmin is now 16 years old and started her training when she was 5 years old. She has been learning for over 6 years at this school. She has put her time in and has proven worthy of testing for her adult Black Sash.

This is very interesting to watch. Basically it appears that the methodology of the "Snake system" is contained within the Biu Ji level in Wing Chun.

From watching this video it seems that Hsing-I also has a lot in common with Wing Chun. This is a very good video!

Our system of Kung Fu at Lee's Summit Academy of Martial arts is not focused on making things look all mystical and "Kung Fuey". We don't focus on doing things that look cool so we can make our school or training videos look cool.

Our focus is on teaching martial arts in a way that is Simple, Direct and Effective. The core of our system is based on Wing Chun Kung Fu and the main idea of Wing Chun is efficiency. So focusing on Simplicity, Directness and Effectiveness is the key. There's no need for a lot of wasted movements. There's no need to try to make the movements look a certain way or look like a certain animal. There's nothing wrong with learning animal styles. There are good reasons for learning that way, it's just not what we do.

Exact same bag I have. Just a different base. I don't think they've been making these bags this size for several years now. I couldn't even find one in good condition on fb marketplace or Ebay. Basically brand new condition too.

He also gave me an attachment for the bag that wraps around it. It's a plastid attachment that represents the three arms of the wooden dummy so students can work on drills or start learning the Jong form.
