From 9Round to the Finish Line – 9Round Master Developer Gerardo Alfaro Conquers The Coastal Challenge Costa Rica
Gerardo Alfaro took on one of the world’s toughest endurance races—The Coastal Challenge—a grueling six-day, 250 km race through Costa Rica’s mountains, rivers, and beaches.
His training wasn’t just about running. He incorporated 9Round workouts to build the strength, endurance, and mental toughness needed to power through unpredictable terrain and fatigue. Reflecting on his preparation, Gerardo shared, “9Round is a great complement for running. The combination of weights and kickboxing helped me improve my cardiovascular fitness, strengthen my muscles, increase flexibility, and prevent injuries.”
With a Kaizen mindset of continuous improvement, he pushed forward, proving that resilience and determination can overcome any obstacle. After approximately 50 hours, Gerardo crossed the finish line, saying, “I must admit that even some tears came out—tears of pain, effort, and satisfaction for achieving this goal.”
