January New Student Sessions Scheduling Now!

This session is for new ISR students or students that have already completed an ISR “rollback to float” session and are now old enough and ready for the “swim-float-swim” sequence.

This session will begin January 13th and end approximately February 21st!

We are so excited to announce that our January sessions for new students will be opening soon!

Returning ISR families, we are working to get a refresher session scheduled too!

Thank you Miss Jenny for coming to Pennsylvania and spending the last six weeks training us to become certified ISR instructors, we will miss you!! We can’t wait to continue teaching children how to be aquatic problem solvers!

Week 1️⃣ might have been accompanied with a little bit of nerves from students and parents. But each day we evidenced growth and progress and after 6️⃣ weeks these kiddos are truly aquatic problem solvers!

Introducing Student Instructor, Miss Nicole!

Miss Nicole is a Lehigh Valley native with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in an elementary school for the last twelve years before deciding she wanted to be able to spend more time at home. Miss Nicole is the mother of two small toddlers, a four year old little girl and two year old little boy. She married her high school sweetheart (they actually went to preschool together) who she loves experiencing life with. When Miss Nicole is not chasing after toddlers, she loves to go to the beach, read books, try out new dessert recipes, and cheer on the Philadelphia sports teams, Go Birds!

Miss Nicole first learned about ISR lessons before she had children of her own. She had read a story of a little boy who lost his life during a non-swimming time while on vacation. His mom became an advocate for water safety and self rescue lessons, something Miss Nicole knew nothing about. After reading this family’s story, she knew that she would enroll her own future children in lessons to provide them with life saving skills for a water encounter.

Both of Miss Nicole’s children have completed ISR lessons so she understands the parent perspective and will be able to relate to the emotions of watching your baby or toddler learn to self rescue! She also has a strong teaching foundation and years of experience working with small children; this excites her because even though she’s not in a physical classroom right now, she still gets to teach such valuable skills.

Miss Nicole is so excited to be able to be a part of bringing ISR lessons back to the Lehigh Valley! She can’t wait to meet you in September!

Introducing student instructor, Miss Maria!

Miss Maria is a mother to three young children who have all gone through the ISR program. Her first job at 14 years old was lifeguarding at Dorney Park. Miss Maria worked as a lifeguard for eleven seasons, during seven of those seasons she was an instructor for the lifeguards and assisted in running the water park as an area supervisor of lifeguards and staff.

During her off season, Miss Maria worked as an associate teacher for several years in an autistic support classroom, growing her experience in a special education setting. For the past three years to present, Miss Maria has been working in the Pediatric ICU at Reilly Children’s Hospital. She is very excited to be able to put her knowledge and skills from all of her previous jobs into one by becoming an ISR instructor.

With her love of water, working with children, and seeing the unfortunate situations at the hospital that can arise firsthand and knowing they can be prevented, she is passionate about the new path she has chosen. Miss Maria is thrilled to become part of the team in making sure “not one more child drowns”.

Have you been thinking about signing up for fall lessons but you are worried that your child will forget what they learned? The great news is that ISR Self-Rescue skills are a sensorimotor skill and are not just forgotten! The "off season" is a great time to enroll in lessons to give your child the skills to survive an unexpected water encounter and get them ready for next swim season!

We encourage families to consider lessons in the "off season" to arm their child with aquatic skills BEFORE pools begin to open for the summer. But a common hesitation from parents is that the child will forget if they learn too early 🤔

Luckily ISR Self-Rescue Skills are a sensorimotor skill- just like crawling, walking, or riding a bike. Sensorimotor skills are not simply forgotten, although they can certainly get rusty without use.

This is why your instructor will encourage you to return for Refresher and Maintenance lessons periodically after your child’s initial learning. This will ensure your little fish gets an opportunity to adjust their skills to their rapid growth and will keep things sharp 💙
