Good afternoon,

The tennis and pickleball courts are still wet and have puddles on them. We are expecting more rain at 1:00 p.m. The 1:00 p.m. tennis matches this afternoon will not be able to be played. We will make a final decision at around 1:30 p.m. for the 2:30 p.m. matches. Thank you for your patience.

Take care,

GICC Team

Good morning,

It is currently raining and the tennis and pickleball courts are very wet ad have puddles on them. We are expecting the rain to continue until noon with a chance of a break at that time for about an hour and then coming back again. It does not look good for the 1:00 p.m. or the 2:30 matches this afternoon. We will make a final decision at noon for the 1:00 p.m. matches. Thank you for your patience.

Take care,

GICC Team

Good morning,

The tennis courts are currently playable this morning. If we start to see water come up on the tennis courts from the freeze and they become unplayable, we will send out another note to notify you.

All our tennis and pickleball courts are playable today.

See you on the courts,

Dave

Good morning,

The clay tennis courts appear to have some frost on them and may have areas underneath the surface that are frozen. We feel the courts should be fine for 9:00 a.m. matches, but we will have to just see how they look and play as the temperatures warm up.

Thank you,

Green Island Racquets Team

Good morning,

All tennis courts and pickleball courts will not be playable this morning. We expect to receive more rain throughout the day. We will provide an update later if the courts become playable for the league matches.
Please give us a call if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Good evening,

We felt we had a good chance of avoiding the rain this evening, but we were not so lucky. It is still raining hard, and all the courts are underwater. All the tennis and pickleball courts will be closed for the remainder of the evening. The racquets shop will be closed at 6:45 p.m. for the rest of the evening. Be careful out there.

Take care,

Dave Neuhart

Good morning,

We did get a freeze last night and with the rains yesterday, there will be a good amount of water in the courts. It is currently 31 and wind chill of 24 degrees. We are hoping there will only be a slight amount of water come up, however, it won’t get above 32 degrees until 9:00 a.m. I recommend everyone that is playing at 9:00 to go ahead and come up and be ready to play. If there is a delay, by the feel of the courts now, there should not be much wait time to play. If the thawing does cause water to come up, we will have to pull the matches from the courts until that water goes away on all of the court surface. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we get the courts prepared for your play today.

Kind regards,

Dave

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately, the rain hasn’t stopped yet and according to the radar is going to be raining for the next hour or so. All tennis and pickleball courts will be closed for the rest of the day. We will send another note tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Dave

Good afternoon,

We received too much rain this afternoon for any clay courts or pickleball courts to be playable this evening. All league matches, and other play is cancelled for this evening. We will be closing the Racquets shop today at 5:00 p.m. There will be another update in the morning about playing conditions.

Take good care,

Dave

Court Closings

The forecasted low for this coming Friday night (January 28) being 23 degrees, and the forecasted low for Saturday night is 21 degrees. When the temperatures fall below 32 degrees or colder, the clay courts freeze and any remaining water in the surface is pushed up to the top of the surface, making them unplayable.

Last weekend it took 6-7 hours before we could get only 4 of the 8 clay courts playable. It will most likely be worse this Saturday and possibly Sunday too. CORTA has stated that no matches are required to be played this weekend.

Once the temperatures get below 25 degrees, the danger of the tennis lines raising above the surface is a strong possibility. These would have to be rolled back down before play could happen and is weather and surface dependent.

The Pickleball courts, because they are hard courts, should not be affected by the colder temperatures this weekend. The Racquets Shop will be open for normal business hours on Friday (9:00 am to 6:00 pm), noon-5:00 pm Saturday and noon-6:00 Sunday.

Thank you for your patience and support

Thanks,

Dave

All 2:30 pm league matches at Green Island Country Club are canceled. We will not be able to get the clay courts up for play. We will be updating you about 4:00 pm matches at least 30 minutes early.

01/23/2022

Good afternoon,

Due to the hard freeze, we had, the water is still covering the clay surface. There will not be any courts playable at 1:00 p.m. We hope, but are not sure if they will be playable by 2:30 p.m. matches. Please call the Racquets shop to check on the status of your particular court, if you are playing at 2:30 p.m. or later, as they will not come back up at the same time, due to the shade, sun, wind, and other factors. We appreciate your patience as we try our best to get them up as quickly as we can.

Good morning,

Our temperatures got down to 25 over night and the court are now thawing out. Due to the extreme cold, the water that was in the ground is now pushing up to the surface. All courts will be closed until at least 1:00 p.m. Please call the Racquets shop to check on the status of your particular court, as they will not come back up at the same time, due to the shade, sun, wind, and other factors. We appreciate your patience as we try our best to get them up as quickly as possible.

Take care,

Dave Neuhart

Good morning,

All courts are playable this morning. All matches will go on as planned. Dress warmly. If anything changes, we will let you know.

Dave and Renata

Good morning everyone,

Due to the current storms and expected severe weather coming up today, the racquets shop will remain closed all day. If the weather/wintry mix starts to clear, and courts begin to become playable, we will send out another announcement about the timing of opening. If this does not happen, we will remain closed all day.

Take care and stay safe out there,

Dave Neuhart
