We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mike Cervi, a legend in the rodeo world.

Mike Cervi
September 9, 1936 - March 19, 2025

Mike Cervi knew that he was a blessed man. If you asked what his greatest accomplishments were, he would speak of his sons and their families and shine from the inside out. The cattle industry was his passion, and rodeo and his family were his heart and soul.

For a man who lived as full and remarkable of a life as one could, Mike didn’t know the meaning of the word pause - slowing down was not in his vocabulary. He was known to say that “luck was for shooting dice,” and he meant it. Mike lived his life with intention and purpose all the way to the end. He was a risk taker, constantly thinking, always moving and dreaming, and forever loyal to those who moved and dreamed with him.

Yesterday Mike peacefully passed away with his beloved sons at his side and leapt into the arms of the Lord. Without him we are now left to pick up the torch he has lit for so long and somehow carry it. Admittedly, it feels impossible, as his loss leaves so much emptiness amid all of the spaces he filled. At the ranch, the feedlot, the Pepper Pod, a church pew, on the phone, the back of the chutes, rumbling around in a white Buick, and a thousand other places.

Our sorrow and grief is vast, but we know what he would say about that. He is home with Jesus, he is squeezing Mike Jr. so very tightly, and he has finished his final race. 88 years was not enough time for us, but he is exactly where he has prayed he would always be, and in that we find comfort.
