A couple of points to this.

One: I don't know anyone of the involved parties. Maybe I live under a rock, but I hadn't heard of Wes Watson until earlier this month. This was actually the first video I have ever seen with him in.

Two: There is a line between self-defense and assault. Everyone will get there day in court but in my opinion this response crossed that line at the end.

Three: AND THE MOST IMPORTANT....fighting and self-defense are two very different things. This guy thought he was going to get a "fair" one on one fight. You want that? Get in a ring or in a cage. You don't give it a go anywhere else and expect "fair." What he ended up in was a violent encounter that he didn't have self-defense skills to handle. The most important being recognition of the situation and the willingness to retreat from it. Save that? Being armed. As you will see even the group immediately armed themselves despite having the numerical superiority.

The streets aren't the place for fair. Keep in mind I define "streets" as anywhere other than a ring/cage/martial arts school, and even in those environments there better be people there to make sure all the rules are followed. Those can get sideways quickly as well.

I am not saying the kid deserved what he got, as there seems to be a lot of information out there, as I went down a bit of a rabbit hole, that it was set up through IG. The kid apparently took what Wes was saying as a direct challenge and Wes didn't really expect him to show up. Both contributed to this going down. Buuuuut, and I have said it many times before, if you are thinking in terms of winning and losing, STAY OUT OF THE STREET! You are going to get hurt or dead. You're sitting there thinking about knocking some guy out and he, and in this case his friends, is thinking about killing you. Very bad things are going to happen. There is no fair and very few fighters, who as a general rule are good, well-meaning and well-disciplined people who don't run around trying to impose their will on others, can throw the switch from fighting to violence. Especially when the guy on the other side goes first and kicks it off violently. That is a deep hole to climb out of.

And yes, boys and girls sometimes the "Bully" wins...by any means necessary. Enjoy.
