Welcome to the Sainrithya Dance Academy.
Smt. Sowmya Sridhar is a Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher and choreographer committed in preserving Bharatanatyam in its full integrity and bringing it to diverse audiences. As a founder of Sainrithya Dance Academy and an Artistic Director, She has choreographed and directed several dance productions on various themes, raising funds for several deserving causes.
Smt. Sowmya Sridhar and her sister Smt. Shalini Srinivasan are 2nd in lineage to Smt. Rukmini Arundale, founder of Kalakshetra. Both of them were initiated into the art of Bharatanatyam by “Natyacharya” S. Aravindan from Kalakshetra. They have received specialized training from the renowned artist Sri. M.V Narasimhachari. Sowmya also received specialized training in Mohiniattam from Smt. Vasantha Aravindan. Both have given performances all over USA and India including the renowned “Natyanjali” festival that is celebrated every year in Chidambaram. The sisters have trained over 600 students and graduated many over the years.
Both of them recently were awarded the title Natya Jyothi in appreciation of their service in the field of Bharatanatyam for the past 25 years. They continue the centuries old tradition of passing on this classical art form to the next generation by identifying and training students who have the dedication and passion for it.
