On Edge Racing

Normally we wait till the next day to post an update but we are a little too excited to wait. Both OE1 driven by Ben Hendricks and OE2 by Bacon made it to and in turn passed tech in their feature races. Tonight once again the PS and SS ran together. We learned things to improve drivability for both cars so we know there is work to be done before next weekend but it feels good to know we are moving in the right direction.

It was a beautiful day at Colorado National Speedway. This weekend’s schedule had the Pure Stocks and Super Stocks running together which turned out to be 43 cars in total.

Qualifying Ben made a commanding effort to be the fastest PS out of the bunch but just got edged out. Bacon was further down the line, which would end up separating the cars the whole night. The whole field had lost a little speed from the previous week for a multitude of reasons.

The field was split pretty even for the Dash races and later the main, still being combined of the two classes. There’s still a little confusion so we will report in straight positions. The first dash had 22 cars and Bacon was able to finish 7th among the mixed field. Ben in the fast dash made sure the Super Stocks knew he was there with a top ten of his own, finishing 9th out of 21.

Now 43 cars for a main would of been a sight to see but smartly the track kept the races split though each race still the same mixture of PS & SS. Both On Edge drivers would fight for a top ten spot in their main event. Bacon with a p8 overall but among Pure Stocks he was 4th, a great finish in a mixed field. Ben had a commanding presence in the second main with a P9 overall but 2nd among Pure Stocks.

Ben and Bacon both loaded the night feeling pretty good with their finishes even if the cars have a few more scars to show for it. A week off we’ll go through routine maintenance and be ready for the next race on June 15th.

Fixing things after an opening night of mayhem on the 6 car.

The OER cars unloaded at Colorado National Speedway last night for their first night of the season. The 6 of Ben was fast out of box, the 7x of Bacon had made improvements over the offseason and they showed.

Ben knocked off a blazing 19.9 in qualifying holding the top spot for some time. Bacon ran his fastest qualifying time. Both cars made the fast dash. Qualifying 6th and 11th respectively out of a 25 car field.

In the dash Ben was involved in a racing incident where he was spun and hit, cutting a tire and some other damage that would be discovered in the main. Bacon finished 5th in that race.

Bacon was on the pole for the main. He was a little nervous but held the lead for a couple laps. Involved in a spin where the race stayed green Bacon ended P12 on the lead lap. Ben pulled off after experiencing a bad vibration caused by damage received in the dash, a broken/cracked hub believed to be the culprit.

All in all OE1 and OE2 showed good potential for a promising season. We’ll get them back in the shop for fixes and improvements. See you June 1st for our next race!

This Saturday is our last points night of the season at Colorado National Speedway. I can’t thank Dan at On Edge Racing enough for producing a hell of a car that outperforms it’s driver regularly.

Finally got the front end to come down, took 9” springs but now we sit like others. 🥓🏴

We picked up the first dent on the new car tonight in the trophy dash.

Last week showed a leaky axle seal. Got that all fixed up. Now to do some routine maintenance before the next race. 🏁

Kinda disappointed. The top 3 we’re found illegal in tech and only got moved back 5 spots. Seems to make tech after the race moot! Still happy with the results on our first time at a race track! 🏁

Apparently DQ’s don’t mean what they used to. Still happy with the car’s performance. On Edge Racing built me a hell of a car, and I look forward to improving in it. Guess we will wait next time for official results to be released before posting. 🥓🏁

It’s a tale of two stories for the first pure stock race at CNS. Bacons new build came home without a scratch and a top 10 in the main. Ben got put in the wall and sustained some serious damage. Thankfully, Ben is ok.

If it fits, it ships. Loaded up and ready.

We finally got it done. 3 and a half months of work to take this car from a running street car to pure stock race car. All while working a full time job and trying to keep the wife happy. First race is 8 days away. 🏁

Our first night on the schedule is a pretty bad ass one. With Bass Pro and Cabela’s sponsoring the night and the Big Rigs in town. Can’t wait to be back out on the track. We appreciate everyone who has got us ready for the season, especially Dan at On Edge Racing who built an amazing new 7x for me to return to the Pure Stocks with. 🥓🏁

Made a dash board today!

Got a lot done in the last couple days. Window net, steering, shifter, switches and started with the wiring. The to do list is getting smaller. 🏁

Impala’s fuel cell came in today 🏁
