South Belfast Youth Football Invitational League

𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗬 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞 😔

Our Under 16 Girls lose a penalty shoot out in the SFAI Inter League Cup final against Mayo Schoolboy/Girls Youth.

A strong start in the opening 40 minutes but it ended goalless at the break. The girls raced into a 2-0 lead early in the second half with goals from Lauren Morrison & Rachael Harshaw only to be on the end of a wave of pressure by Mayo who scored via the penalty spot before an equaliser right on the final whistle with an in-swinging free kick. Extra time followed with Mayo going in front only for Isla Steen to instantly reply.

A dreaded penalty shootout was to determine the winners as Mayo scored all 5 penalties to claim the trophy.

A heartbreaking way to lose a game of football, the girls can be extremely proud of what they have achieved. They have made friends & memories for life.

Our Under 16 Boys defeat Midlands Schoolboys League 4-1 to win the SFAI Inter League Shield. Goals from Micheal Curran, Ryan Higgins, Zak Sweeney & Matthew Reynolds.

Big well done to the players & coaches for their commitment to the squad 👏

Our Under 13 Boys are also on the road this weekend as they travel to face Longford in the Schoolboys/girls Football Association of Ireland quarter final.

INTER LEAGUE WINNERS 🏆

Our Under 14 Boys beat Midlands Schoolboys League 2-0 to claim the SFAI Inter League Shield. Goals from Kenzie McVarnock & Patrick Hume

The side finished joint 1st in their group stage but dropped into the shield following a draw of lots.

This is the first trophy the squad have won together, great preparation for the Kennedy Cup in June.

Our Under 14 Boys Select Side made the journey to Limerick last night for their Schoolboys/girls Football Association of Ireland Inter League Final v Midlands SL this morning.

A big weekend for our Select Sides with 5 fixtures in the Schoolboys/girls Football Association of Ireland.

It starts today as our U16 Boys & U14 Girls make the long journey to play Kerry in the knockout stages. Our U13 Boys face Donegal this evening in their final group stage game.

Tomorrow we have our U15 Boys playing Sligo at home, then our U16 Girls against Cork in a Cup Semi Final!
